India’s First Underwater Wedding
India witnessed its first underwater wedding ceremony in the paradise of Kovalam which was organised by Bond Safari Kovalam. The unique and adventurous wedding ceremony took place off Grove Beach in Kovalam. The bride, Unika Pogran, a native of Slovenia, and the groom Nikhil Powar from Maharashtra exchanged their rings in a specially created setting undersea.
The couple descended into the sea carrying their scuba diving equipment along with their eight friends. They exchanged rings, adorned each other with shell garlands, kissed underwater and took their wedding vows with the help of placards, on the podium created by the Bond Safari team. In keeping with the all-natural theme, the setting was created with palm leaves, coconut shells, and flowers- all natural substances. Thus the wedding took place amidst the pearl and shell decked bottom while the lush marine life formed the backdrop.
The only kind of underwater weddings that took place in India were limited to swimming pools. Bond Safari has been able to extend the horizon bearing new possibilities and opportunities for much larger events too. Though underwater weddings are popular abroad, it was a first time for India. At a time when destination weddings are popular, Bond Safari offered a one of a kind blend of destination and unique wedding. These kind of events are sure to play a huge part in boosting Kerala tourism. In addition to organising wedding ceremonies underwater, Bond Safari has targeted various tourist spots for their upcoming adventure sport projects with an aim to revolutionize the state of art and tourism in Kerala.
